Religion has been a guiding voice in our nation since its inception. We here are catholic and we must adhere to catholic beliefs. In the bible, Slavery is never condemned, it is God’s will that allows us to be free and to have personal property, where it would be unholy for the government to tell us what to do with our own possessions. It is known to us in the south that these African slaves are descendants of ham, It is said they share the same bloodline and as we know ham is cursed. We must impose our earthly powers and as god stated to us we have a god-given right to rule absolutely over our personal property and it is no business of the government to get involved in these matters. Property has no rights under god and they should be exempt from the common rights afforded to me and you. John Mann had made a deal with another master to rent the slave in question for 1 years time., He as the Master for that one-year period has every authority under god to discipline and react as needed in any situation that arises
